Abstract
Smart energy optimisation via energy harvesting is gaining interest in the last years especially for portable, miniaturised and distributed / embedded applications. Harvesting environmental energy as an alternative power source addresses the dramatically increasing demand for future low-cost energy-efficient autonomous sensor systems for the Internet-of-Things (IoT).
A functional energy harvesting system requires to address simultaneously the harvester device(s), energy storage and power management circuits. This presentation will discuss a MEMS-based harvester system with details on the harvester, piezoelectric material, supercapacitor and ASIC.
